Job Description

The SRE Engineer role at Zensar involves designing, implementing, and maintaining highly available and scalable systems to ensure the reliability and performance of the company's applications and infrastructure. You will collaborate across teams to set service levels, monitor system health, automate tasks, and improve system performance continuously.

Primary Skills Required

• Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix systems and command line tools
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Shell, or Perl
• Experience with configuration management tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Chef
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
• Understanding of networking principles and protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS, etc.)
• Knowledge of containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and orchestration tools
• Expertise in monitoring and logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, Splunk - optional but good to know)
• Experience with Citrix technologies (XenApp, XenDesktop, NetScaler) and supporting Citrix infrastructure
• Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V)
• Terraform basics and GitLab CI/CD configuration experience
• Cloud resource provisioning and configuration through CLI/API
• Operating system configuration, package management, startup, and troubleshooting
• Block and object storage configuration
• Networking concepts including VPCs, proxies, and CDNs
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

Secondary Skills Required

• Proven experience as a Site Reliability Engineer or similar role
• Solid understanding of software development methodologies and DevOps principles
• Experience with agile and iterative development processes
• Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Certified Kubernetes Administrator) are a plus
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines
• Experience with source control systems like Git or SVN
• Knowledge of security best practices and experience implementing them in production
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities independently
• Strong analytical skills focused on continuous improvement and automation

Role & Responsibilities

• Design and implement highly available, scalable systems ensuring reliability and performance
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and establish SLOs and SLAs
• Monitor systems proactively, identifying and resolving performance or availability issues
• Develop and maintain monitoring tools, alerts, and dashboards
• Conduct post-incident analysis to identify root causes and implement preventative measures
• Automate repetitive tasks to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention
• Maintain documentation on system architecture, configurations, and troubleshooting
• Perform capacity planning and resource allocation
• Work with development teams to deploy new features meeting reliability standards
• Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging SRE technologies
