Job Description:
As a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) at Visa, you will be part of the Product Reliability Engineering (PRE) team supporting Consumer Authentication systems. This role focuses on system availability, performance, change management, monitoring, emergency response, and capacity planning. You will drive reliability through automation, architectural reviews, and technical solutions, ensuring 99.99% uptime for business-critical Fintech APIs.
Responsibilities:
- Provide 24/7 application support including on-call rotation
- Apply configuration updates and proactive maintenance
- Design tools for automation and process improvements
- Support application architecture and transaction flows
- Remediate cybersecurity issues and patch vulnerabilities
- Work closely with development/support teams on problem resolution
- Conduct certificate installations and compliance verifications
- Manage lifecycle of products owned by PRE
- Support production deployments and incremental code pushes
- Act as a change approver ensuring secure and risk-mitigated deployments
- Collaborate with DevSecOps to ensure compliance and hand-off readiness
- Ensure robust monitoring and observability for 99.99% uptime
Must Have Skills:
- Experience in Linux/Unix administration and CLI network troubleshooting
- Java/Tomcat-based application support
- Familiarity with Splunk, Grafana, and web protocols (HTTP/S, SSL/TLS, DNS)
- Scripting/automation skills: Ansible, PowerShell, Bash, Python
- Knowledge of load balancing, HA models (f5-GTM, LTM), proxies
Good to Have Skills:
- Understanding of encryption protocols, SSL certificate/key management
- Kubernetes administration (deployment, orchestration, load balancing)
- JVM performance tuning, analyzing thread/heap dumps
