Role Overview – R&D DevOps Engineer

The R&D DevOps Engineer plays a critical role in designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise-grade build systems, CI/CD pipelines, and automation frameworks that support next-generation engineering software products.

This role works closely with distributed R&D, infrastructure, and testing teams to deliver high-quality, stable, and reproducible builds across Windows, Linux, cloud, and on-premise environments. The position emphasizes automation-first DevOps practices, platform reliability, and continuous improvement.


Key Responsibilities

DevOps & Build Engineering

  • Design, maintain, and optimize fully automated build pipelines using modern CI/CD tools.
  • Manage software build, packaging, and deployment workflows for complex R&D products.
  • Automate build processes to reduce manual intervention and improve reliability.

Cloud & Infrastructure Support

  • Configure and support cloud-based and on-premise infrastructure for product builds.
  • Manage build environments across Windows and Linux platforms.
  • Integrate open-source and third-party DevOps tools into build ecosystems.

CI/CD & Automation

  • Develop and maintain continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines.
  • Use YAML-based pipeline configurations and scripting to enforce build standards.
  • Ensure smooth promotion of builds across development, testing, and production stages.

Reliability, Monitoring & Troubleshooting

  • Investigate, debug, and resolve complex build failures and platform-specific issues.
  • Monitor system performance using metrics, logs, and alerts.
  • Perform root cause analysis to improve long-term platform stability.

Collaboration & Quality Assurance

  • Collaborate with software engineers, QA teams, and infrastructure teams.
  • Execute acceptance and validation tests to ensure build quality and compliance.
  • Document DevOps processes, workflows, and system architecture.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.
  • 1–3 years of professional DevOps or build engineering experience.

Core Technical Skills

  • Experience building C/C++ applications on Linux and Windows.
  • Strong knowledge of build systems such as CMake and SCons.
  • Experience with dependency management and build configuration.
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD platforms and automation pipelines.
  • Proficiency in Git version control systems.

Programming & Scripting

  • Experience with C, C++, C#, Fortran, or Java.
  • Strong scripting skills using Python, JavaScript, Bash, or Windows batch scripts.
  • Familiarity with YAML-based pipeline definitions.

DevOps Tooling

  • Experience with Azure DevOps for source control, pipelines, and build agents.
  • Exposure to Docker, containerization, and Kubernetes orchestration.
  • Understanding of cloud infrastructure and DevOps security best practices.

Preferred Skills (High-Value DevOps Expertise)

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering.
  • Experience with open-source tools, compilers, and packaging systems.
  • Familiarity with GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or enterprise CI/CD tools.
  • Experience with Conan, NuGet, or similar dependency managers.
  • Knowledge of cloud security, virtualization, and container orchestration.
