About the Role

Red Hat’s UXE Platform Engineering Team is hiring an Associate Software Engineer to contribute to backend API development for customer and internal systems. This role offers an opportunity to work on high-performance systems using Java, Node.js, and GraphQL, alongside cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, globally distributed environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement APIs using TypeScript and Java
• Support and enhance GraphQL subgraphs and supergraphs
• Maintain existing backend service portfolios
• Participate in architecture discussions and code reviews
• Mentor junior engineers
• Collaborate with global teams including QE, DevOps, and Architects
• Develop unit tests and documentation
• Coordinate on project deliverables and timelines

Required Skills & Experience

• 1–2 years of software development experience
• Proficiency with RESTful and GraphQL APIs
• Backend experience with Node.js and SpringBoot
• Frontend proficiency with HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript
• Experience with JavaScript frameworks and testing tools (Jest, Mockito)
• Familiar with GitLab/GitHub and DevOps practices
• Ability to work independently and learn rapidly
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Soft Skills

• Strong verbal and written communication in English
• Self-motivated with the ability to work unsupervised
• Eagerness to adapt to new technologies and best practices
• Collaborative and open to feedback in a global work culture
