Red Hat’s Performance and Scale Team is hiring an Associate Software Engineer to support its Chaos Engineering initiative. You’ll help make Red Hat OpenShift more resilient and scalable under failure conditions such as network faults or infrastructure issues.
This is an excellent opportunity to start your career with a top open-source enterprise software provider, working with industry leaders in Kubernetes, Linux, and cloud-native technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute chaos testing, performance, and scalability benchmarks for Red Hat OpenShift
- Characterize and improve platform reliability and performance under real-world failure scenarios
- Build fault-injection and load-generation tools for CI/CD environments
- Integrate AI into testing processes for broader coverage
- Contribute to capacity planning and resilient product design
- Collaborate across global engineering and open-source communities
- Write internal test reports and public blog/documentation content
Required Skills:
- Proficiency in Linux system administration
- Strong in scripting languages: Python, Bash, Go, or Ansible
- Familiar with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, GCP, IBM Cloud
- Knowledge of container technologies (Docker, Podman)
- Experience with CI tools (Jenkins, Airflow, Prow)
- Git-based development workflow
Bonus Skills (Preferred but not required):
- Working knowledge of Kubernetes or OpenShift
- Familiar with monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana
- Understanding of AI concepts or willingness to learn
- Strong communication and presentation skills
