In this role, you’ll tackle unique challenges of scale, automation, and distributed system design while contributing to a highly visible platform serving mission-critical applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Apply software engineering principles to IT operations.
  • Contribute to the codebase and automate service management tasks.
  • Ensure service reliability meets internal and external user needs.
  • Design and operate large-scale, fault-tolerant distributed systems.
  • Reduce operational toil through automation and improve monitoring systems.
  • Collaborate with cloud IaaS and SaaS providers and internal stakeholders.
  • Participate in a global on-call rotation for 24x7 production support.
  • Conduct sustainable incident response and blameless postmortems.
  • Work within an agile team and support SRE methodology development.
  • Provide feedback to Red Hat Product Engineering teams for feature improvements.

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software/Systems Engineering, or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience with cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP, OpenStack).
  • 1+ years of experience managing a Kubernetes-based production environment.
  • 2+ years of experience in programming with Golang, Python, or similar languages.
  • Strong understanding of UNIX/Linux operating systems (RHEL, CentOS, Fedora).
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise configuration management tools like Ansible.
  • Knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP).
  • Familiarity with CI/CD approaches and cloud-based deployment processes.
  • Experience with distributed systems and system optimization.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex issues and automate routine tasks.
  • Excellent problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a global, distributed team.

Nice to Have

  • Passion for creating outstanding user experiences.
  • Experience with static code analysis tools.
  • Exposure to enterprise system monitoring tools.
  • Prior involvement in agile development methodologies.

Why Join Red Hat

  • Flexible, remote-friendly work environment.
  • Opportunity to collaborate on cutting-edge open-source technologies.
  • Transparent and inclusive company culture.
  • Access to career growth opportunities and global networking.
