Role Overview

As a Cloud Operations Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, deploying, and managing cloud infrastructure and services. You’ll ensure high availability, performance, and data security across PowerSchool’s education platforms. This position is ideal for professionals with expertise in Windows Server, VMware, SQL/Oracle Databases, and automation scripting.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and troubleshoot Windows Server (2016/2019/2022) environments.
• Manage VMware infrastructure (ESXi, vSphere, vCenter) for scalability and availability.
• Perform SQL Server / Oracle database administration: backup, recovery, tuning, and security.
• Automate operational tasks with PowerShell and scripting.
• Monitor system performance, conduct health checks, and optimize infrastructure.
• Plan and execute upgrades, migrations, and patch management.
• Troubleshoot issues related to servers, virtualization, Citrix, and databases.
• Maintain detailed infrastructure documentation and runbooks.
• Work on service tickets and support cross-functional IT teams.
• Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation for critical incident handling.

Minimum Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in Cloud Operations Administration.
• Bachelor’s in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Expertise in Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy.
• Hands-on knowledge of high availability environments and zero downtime deployment.
• Experience with IIS, DNS, HTML, SQL queries (Select, Update, Delete).
• Scripting experience with PowerShell or Python.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.

Preferred Skills

• Familiarity with VMware ESXi, vSphere, vCenter.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP).
• Understanding of Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban).
• Certifications: Azure, MCSA/MCSE, VMware VCP.
