Role Overview

As a Cloud Operations Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, deploying, managing, and optimizing cloud infrastructure and services. This role ensures the availability, performance, and security of cloud-based applications, while driving automation and best practices for scalable IT operations.

You will work with a collaborative Hosting Team that manages infrastructure across hardware, software, operating systems, and PowerSchool products—protecting customer data while keeping systems reliable and secure.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows Server environments (2016/2019/2022).
• Manage and administer Citrix environments (Virtual Apps & Desktops – XenApp/XenDesktop).
• Design and manage VMware infrastructure (ESXi, vSphere, vCenter).
• Administer SQL Server or Oracle databases (backup, recovery, performance tuning, security).
• Automate routine tasks using PowerShell scripting.
• Monitor infrastructure health and optimize system performance for high availability.
• Execute upgrades, migrations, and patch management in HA environments.
• Troubleshoot issues across servers, virtualization, Citrix, and databases.
• Maintain detailed documentation of configurations and procedures.
• Provide technical support and guidance to IT staff and end-users.
• Manage service requests/tickets and participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation.

Minimum Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in Cloud Operations (Windows Server, VMware, databases).
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Strong knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy.
• Familiarity with HA deployment strategies (zero downtime).
• Understanding of web application architecture (IIS, DNS, HTML).
• Scripting proficiency (PowerShell, Python).
• Basic SQL knowledge (SELECT, UPDATE, DELETE statements).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, TCP/IP frameworks.
• Experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban).
• Advanced knowledge of VMware virtualization (ESXi, vSphere, vCenter).
• Certifications preferred: Azure, MCSA/MCSE, VMware VCP.
