Role Overview

Position: Site Reliability Engineer I
Experience: 1 – 4 Years
Location: Bangalore, India

Are you passionate about maintaining the reliability and performance of one of the world’s largest fintech infrastructures?
PhonePe is looking for a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) with strong Linux/Unix skills and a deep understanding of networking, open-source technologies, and cloud environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain large-scale production systems ensuring high availability and performance.
• Apply Linux/Unix administration expertise and networking knowledge.
• Implement best practices and IT operations for always-up, always-available services.
• Participate in on-call rotation and incident response.
• Use and manage a wide range of open-source technologies and tools.
• Work effectively with MySQL/MariaDB/Percona databases.
• Develop automation and configuration using SaltStack or similar tools.
• Write scripts in Perl, Python, or Golang for operational automation.
• Manage private cloud environments and contribute to internal infrastructure improvement.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with KVM/QEMU for implementing cloud services.
• Familiarity with container orchestration tools like Docker or Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of NoSQL databases (especially Aerospike).
• Proficiency in Perl and Golang development.
• Understanding of Galera cluster operations.
• Exposure to data center operations and maintenance.
