About the Role

This is a unique opportunity to join Canonical — the company behind Ubuntu — and help support enterprise customers adopting Linux Desktop and Open Source technologies. You'll work with hardware and software on real-world deployments, collaborating closely with engineering teams.

Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional technical support across the Linux Desktop and Devices stack
  • Manage and resolve customer issues from qualification to resolution
  • Troubleshoot Ubuntu Desktop-related problems and contribute code fixes
  • Communicate regularly with customers on case progress and technical details
  • Apply your expertise in TCP/IP, security, authentication, and Open Source software
  • Participate in training, sprints, and internal company events

Who We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent technical field
  • Experience supporting Ubuntu Desktop or similar Linux environments
  • Strong knowledge of Linux, networking, and desktop hardware (PCs, laptops, Raspberry Pi)
  • Familiarity with Snap, Debian packaging, GNOME, Python or C
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable in a fully remote environment
  • English fluency required
  • Willing to travel 2–4 times/year internationally for company events

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Snapcraft, WSL, or advanced scripting
  • Contributions to open-source communities
  • Prior customer-facing technical support experience

What We Offer

  • Remote-first work culture (since 2004)
  • Personal learning & development budget ($2,000/year)
  • Annual performance reviews
  • Recognition rewards
  • Global travel for team sprints
  • Parental leave & Employee Assistance Program
  • Priority Pass for long-haul travel

Canonical is an equal opportunity employer.
