We are looking for a DevOps Engineer who will help build, maintain, and operate resilient, scalable infrastructure using modern automation tools like Chef, Ansible, Docker, and AWS Cloud.

About the Team

The Document Persistent Storage Service Team at Workday provides secure, scalable, and resilient data persistence solutions across private and public cloud environments.
We design, build, and maintain high-performance database, key-value, and object storage systems that power Workday’s global SaaS infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and maintain highly available and scalable infrastructure for critical applications.
• Develop and operate RESTful services, distributed systems, and microservices on Linux.
• Use configuration management tools (Chef, Ansible, Puppet) and containerization platforms (Docker) for deployments.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure smooth CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure reliability.
• Participate in the design, maintenance, and improvement of fault-tolerant software systems.
• Contribute to a strong testing and automation culture—including unit, integration, and system testing.
• Implement monitoring, logging, and metrics tracking using advanced observability tools.
• Participate in on-call rotations for production systems after initial training.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• Strong proficiency in Linux systems—including process management, networking, threading, and storage.
• Expertise in at least one scripting language: Python, Ruby, or Bash.

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with Chef, Ansible, or Puppet for configuration management.
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud computing platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Understanding of testing methodologies, QA practices, and automation frameworks.
• Prior experience in production operations, on-call support, or incident management.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
