Job Overview – Associate, Site Reliability Engineer (SRE)

Pfizer is seeking an Associate, Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join its Digital & Technology division. In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product Owners, Software Engineers, and Data Engineers to ensure that Pfizer’s software and infrastructure are reliable, scalable, and cost-effective.

You will own key aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), focus on automation, monitoring, performance optimization, and deliver cloud-based solutions that meet Pfizer’s global standards for security and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure delivery of high-quality, reliable software and infrastructure in an agile environment.
• Support Pfizer’s SRE strategy, focusing on performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Build and maintain secure, performant, and cost-efficient systems on AWS and Kubernetes (EKS).
• Automate manual and repetitive processes to improve efficiency.
• Manage and optimize cloud infrastructure performance and cost.
• Extend and enhance CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions or similar tools.
• Implement monitoring solutions (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Dynatrace) for real-time visibility.
• Collaborate with development teams to design, build, and enhance applications.
• Maintain a deployment and release management knowledge base.
• Continuously improve reliability, reduce downtime, and streamline deployments.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 1+ year of experience in Technology Operations, Site Reliability, or Software Development.
• Hands-on experience with:
  • Kubernetes / EKS
  • AWS Services: EC2, EBS, EFS, S3, RDS, MSK (or similar cloud platforms)
  • CI/CD Tools: GitHub Actions or equivalent
• Knowledge of Terraform, Docker, Ansible, FluxCD, or ArgoCD.
• Experience with Prometheus / Grafana / ELK / Dynatrace monitoring tools.
• Proficiency in Bash and at least one programming language (Python, Java, JavaScript, C#, etc.).
• Experience with both SQL and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MongoDB, etc.).
• Strong understanding of microservices architecture and cloud computing.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience managing complex software deployments and multiple release cycles.
• Exposure to defect analysis, troubleshooting, and resolution.
• Pharmaceutical industry experience is a plus.
• Certifications:
  • Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect
• Experience with JIRA, Confluence, and Agile frameworks (Scrum, SAFe).
