About the Role

The Associate Unix/Linux Systems Administrator provides technical support for Unix-based operating systems and infrastructure to ensure performance, security, and availability for internal and client-facing services. This role involves supporting server provisioning, configuration, monitoring, patching, and incident resolution, primarily within Red Hat Linux environments. You will work closely with experienced engineers and cross-functional teams to maintain and improve system operations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain Unix/Linux servers (RedHat, Linux for Issuing; HP-UX for Acquiring) according to PCI standards.
  • Assist with server provisioning, user account management, and system access configuration.
  • Monitor system performance, review logs, and report findings for evaluation of system resources.
  • Provide level-one technical support for internal and external customer requests (password resets, account setups, access issues).
  • Assist in troubleshooting system bottlenecks and escalate complex issues.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including OS patching, firmware upgrades, and performance tuning.
  • Support disaster recovery and business continuity procedures.
  • Maintain data center environment monitoring equipment and ensure compliance with change management processes.
  • Document processes and participate in status calls as required.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, IT, or related technical field, or equivalent experience.
  • Basic experience or familiarity with RedHat Linux system administration.
  • Ability to learn and apply professional concepts and company policies for routine problem-solving.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Computer Science, IT, or related technical field.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience in Linux/Unix administration.
  • Experience with Ansible automation and RedHat Linux administration.
  • RedHat Certified Engineer (RHCE) certification is a plus.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of Unix/Linux OS fundamentals.
  • Basic troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for system administration tasks.
  • Ability to follow standard operating procedures and company policies.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work with internal teams and clients.
  • Willingness to participate in on-call rotations if required.
