Role Overview

As an SRE/Observability Intern, you will gain hands-on experience bridging software engineering and operations. You will help build, automate, and scale cloud infrastructure, ensuring high reliability and performance for Okta services. This role is ideal for students or early-career professionals aspiring to build expertise in:

• AWS cloud architecture, cloud security, and cloud-native solutions
• Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles, monitoring, and observability
• DevOps automation, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible), and CI/CD pipelines
• Containerization with Docker and Kubernetes

You will also have opportunities to work on real-time monitoring dashboards, incident response, capacity planning, and automated recovery systems.

Internship Responsibilities

• Automation & Tooling: Write scripts in Python, Go, or Bash to automate repetitive tasks and enhance productivity.
• Monitoring & Observability: Build and maintain dashboards using Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, or cloud-native monitoring tools.
• Incident Support: Assist senior engineers during incident responses and contribute to blameless postmortems.
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Support cloud infrastructure management with Terraform or Ansible, across AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Capacity Planning & Performance Optimization: Analyze metrics to predict and scale infrastructure for optimal performance.

Minimum Required Knowledge & Skills

• Coding: Proficiency in at least one language, Python preferred.
• Operating Systems: Comfortable with Linux/Unix command line.
• Networking: Basic understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS protocols.
• Cloud & Containers: Familiarity with AWS cloud services, Docker, Kubernetes, or other cloud providers.
• Problem Solving: Ability to troubleshoot, automate, and optimize cloud systems.
• Communication: Clearly explain technical issues to developers and stakeholders.
