Position: Reliability & DevOps Intern – Qira AI Platform
Location: Chicago, Illinois, United States

Hourly Pay: $30 – $34 per hour

Role Overview

Lenovo is looking for a Reliability & DevOps Intern to join the engineering team responsible for Qira, Lenovo’s cross-device AI platform.

In this role, you will support DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) teams in building the automation, monitoring, and operational systems required to run large-scale AI workloads across devices, edge environments, and cloud infrastructure.

This internship provides hands-on experience with real production systems, cloud platforms, and reliability engineering practices, making it ideal for students interested in careers in DevOps Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering, Cloud Infrastructure Engineering, and Platform Engineering.

Key Responsibilities

Monitoring, Observability & Reliability

• Build and enhance monitoring dashboards, alerts, and observability systems
• Analyze metrics, logs, and distributed traces to understand system behavior
• Identify reliability risks and help improve system stability

Automation & DevOps Tooling

• Write automation scripts using Python, Bash, or similar scripting languages
• Automate repetitive tasks related to deployments, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud infrastructure
• Improve operational workflows and DevOps processes

Operational Readiness

• Create and maintain runbooks and operational documentation
• Document troubleshooting steps and standard operating procedures
• Support post-incident reviews and reliability analysis

Cloud & Infrastructure

• Assist with infrastructure tasks across AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform
• Support systems running AI workloads across cloud, edge, and device environments
• Learn how large-scale AI platforms are deployed and maintained

Collaboration

• Work with engineers from DevOps, SRE, AI, and platform engineering teams
• Participate in design discussions, operational planning, and reliability reviews

Technical Skills Required

Operating Systems

• Hands-on experience with Linux systems
• Understanding of process management and system commands

Automation & Scripting

• Ability to write scripts using Python or Bash

Cloud Computing

• Basic knowledge of Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform

DevOps & CI/CD

• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and automation workflows
• Familiarity with Git version control systems

Networking

• Basic knowledge of networking concepts and infrastructure communication

• Exposure to monitoring, logging, or observability platforms

Education Requirements
