Job Description

IBM is hiring Support Engineers to contribute to HashiCorp’s Terraform product line, now part of IBM. This position involves working closely with engineering teams and enterprise clients to troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure and cloud-native deployment issues.

You will help IBM clients achieve efficiency, scalability, and security by supporting them across multi-cloud and hybrid environments. If you're passionate about cloud platforms, DevOps, and open-source technologies, this is an ideal opportunity.

Key Responsibilities

• Respond to and triage technical support requests via ticketing systems (Zendesk)
• Troubleshoot Terraform Enterprise issues and build/test configurations
• Assist with customer onboarding, product installation, and debugging
• Reproduce customer environments and issues for deeper problem analysis
• Write knowledge base articles, guides, and improve product documentation
• Participate in live calls and support engineering escalations
• Occasionally contribute to bug fixes or product improvements
• Rotate in periodic on-call support for production environments

30/60/90 Day Goals

30 Days:

• Write and apply a basic Terraform configuration in TFE
• Answer Level 1 inquiries with minimal guidance
• One contribution to documentation or internal knowledge base

60 Days:

• Handle Level 1 & 2 issues independently
• Deploy Terraform configurations on AWS, Azure, and GCP
• Ride along on customer install sessions

90 Days:

• Independently manage critical production issues
• Run customer install sessions solo
• Debug and analyze customer logs to identify root causes
• Implement minor fixes or config changes

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree (CS, IT, or related field)
• 4+ years in Support Engineering, System Administration, or DevOps
• Strong Linux/UNIX skills and command-line experience
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and networking concepts
• Hands-on coding in Bash, Python, or Java/C++ is a plus
• Experience with Terraform and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Excellent communication and customer handling skills

Preferred Skills

• Experience with open-source software and cloud-native tools
• Previous contributions to tools, scripts, or community projects
• Familiarity with IBM and HashiCorp products (Terraform, Vault, etc.)
