Job Overview – Software Engineer Intern

IBM India Systems Development Lab (ISDL) is hiring Software Engineer Interns to work on cloud, infrastructure, systems software, and storage technologies.

As an intern, you’ll work on all phases of product development — from design, development, testing, and support — gaining hands-on exposure to IBM’s enterprise-grade systems software and cloud infrastructure.

This is an ideal opportunity for students or recent graduates looking to build a career in software engineering, cloud computing, and systems development.

Key Responsibilities

• Work across all phases of product development, including design, development, validation, and support.
• Collaborate with global product management and engineering teams.
• Analyze product requirements, design efficient solutions, and write high-quality code.
• Contribute to firmware, systems software, operating systems, and cloud software development.
• Participate in testing, debugging, and deployment of IBM Systems products.
• Support validation and provide technical support for IBM products.

Required Education

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related disciplines.

Required Technical & Professional Expertise

• Strong programming skills in C, C++, Java, Python, GoLang, ReactJS, or Groovy.
• Solid understanding of Operating System Concepts (Unix/Linux internals), Data Structures, and Algorithms.
• Familiarity with Virtualization and Cloud Computing Technologies such as Kubernetes, Docker, and Red Hat OpenShift.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a global collaborative environment.

Preferred Technical & Professional Skills

• Experience with OpenStack, Cloud Security, App Development on Cloud Platforms, and DevOps Tools.
• Exposure to Web UI Frameworks such as Vaadin, ReactJS, and Bootstrap/Material Design.
• Knowledge of J2EE, JSP, RESTful APIs, and GraphQL.
• Familiarity with JavaScript, Ansible, SQL, Node.js, and Database Systems.
• Understanding of AI/ML concepts, NLP, and data-driven problem-solving techniques.
