Position: Graduate Trainee – Site Reliability Engineering (SRE)
Location: Bangalore, India

Role Overview

Calix is looking for Graduate Trainees in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) to support the reliability and performance of cloud-based platforms and distributed systems.

In this role, you will assist in monitoring production systems, managing cloud infrastructure, improving automation workflows, and supporting CI/CD deployments. You will collaborate with platform engineers and software development teams to ensure system reliability, scalability, and operational excellence.

This role is ideal for candidates who want to build careers in Site Reliability Engineering, Cloud Infrastructure Engineering, DevOps Engineering, and Platform Operations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in monitoring and maintaining reliability and availability of cloud services
  • Support incident investigation, root cause analysis (RCA), and post-incident documentation
  • Participate in 24/7 monitoring and alert triage rotations
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts using Python and Shell scripting
  • Work with observability tools for metrics, logs, and distributed tracing
  • Support troubleshooting of relational and NoSQL databases
  • Assist with monitoring event-streaming systems such as Kafka
  • Use Terraform for Infrastructure as Code (IaC) provisioning and validation
  • Support CI/CD pipelines and application deployments
  • Create runbooks, operational documentation, and monitoring dashboards
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to improve system scalability and resilience

Technical Skills Required

Cloud & Infrastructure

  • Exposure to AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
  • Understanding of cloud architecture and infrastructure services

Infrastructure as Code

  • Knowledge of Terraform

DevOps & CI/CD

  • Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and automated deployments

Monitoring & Observability

  • Experience with tools such as:
    • Prometheus
    • Grafana
    • Logging and monitoring platforms

Programming / Automation

  • Knowledge of Python
  • Experience with Shell scripting

Databases & Streaming

  • Exposure to relational or NoSQL databases
  • Basic understanding of Kafka or event streaming systems

Eligibility Criteria

  • BE / B.Tech degree
  • Minimum CGPA: 7.5 and above
  • Eligible Batches: 2024 or 2025 pass-outs
  • Basic knowledge or internship experience in SRE, DevOps, CI/CD, or Terraform
  • Experience with public cloud platforms (AWS / Azure / GCP) is preferred
  • In-person interview is mandatory
