Job Description:
WEX is looking for a Software Engineer to join the International Mobility team. The ideal candidate will contribute to backend development and help build scalable solutions using Java and related technologies.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and test scalable backend systems and REST APIs
• Work on maintaining and improving legacy systems
• Analyze performance bottlenecks and recommend solutions
• Participate in code reviews and support engineering best practices
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align with business goals
• Help build CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation
• Monitor live systems and resolve incidents quickly
• Learn and apply modern backend tools and practices
• Contribute to team culture with a focus on continuous learning

Desired Candidate Profile:

• At least 2 years of software engineering experience
• Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, OOP
• Proficient in Java and Spring Boot
• Experience in developing and maintaining RESTful APIs
• Knowledge of SQL and relational database performance tuning
• Basic understanding of CI/CD and tools like GitHub Actions
• Preferred: Kafka, Docker, Kubernetes, API security, regulated environments
• Collaborative mindset with strong communication skills
