Job Description:

WEX is looking for a passionate and early-career Software Development Engineer 1 (SDE1) to join its International Mobility Engineering team. You’ll help build scalable backend services that support global mobility payment platforms across Europe and Asia-Pacific. This is an exciting opportunity to grow as a backend engineer while contributing to real-world, enterprise-scale systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Write clean, scalable backend code using Java (or C#) and Spring Boot
• Develop and maintain REST APIs and microservices architecture
• Build automated test suites: unit, integration, and end-to-end
• Learn and apply DevOps practices: CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes
• Work in agile teams, participate in code reviews and scrums
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams: UX, Product, QA
• Monitor production systems and participate in incident resolution
• Gain experience in observability (Prometheus, Grafana) and cloud (AWS)

Required Skills:

• 1–3 years of backend development experience
• Solid foundation in OOP, data structures, and algorithms
• Familiarity with REST API development and relational databases
• Experience using version control systems (Git), CI tools (Jenkins)
• Understanding of containerization concepts (Docker)
• Strong desire to learn, grow, and build production-grade software
