Role Overview

We are seeking a Software Engineer II to join our Claims UK – Property team. Based in Hyderabad, this role focuses on developing innovative cloud-based SaaS applications for the UK insurance industry, specifically in property claims systems. The position involves both frontend and backend development, working with microservices and serverless architectures hosted on AWS.

Responsibilities:

• Design and develop full-stack, component-based web applications using Java, Vue.js (or React/Angular), and relational databases
• Build and maintain RESTful and SOAP APIs for internal and third-party system integration
• Work with AWS services, focusing on scalability and performance
• Collaborate with Product Owners and Business Analysts to translate user requirements into technical tasks
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning and reviews
• Maintain technical documentation, including system designs and user guides
• Provide third-line support for production systems
• Promote clean coding practices and continuous improvement

Qualifications:

Essential Skills:

• 2+ years of Java development experience
• Frontend development skills with Vue.js, React, or Angular
• Strong SQL knowledge, experience with Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL
• Familiarity with REST APIs and SOAP web services
• Understanding of AWS services and cloud-based application deployment
• Experience with Git or equivalent version control tools
• Excellent spoken and written English communication skills

Desirable Skills:

• Experience with microservices and serverless architectures (e.g., AWS Lambda)
• Knowledge of test-driven development (TDD) and CI/CD pipelines
• Familiarity with NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, DynamoDB)
• Experience with other programming languages like Python or Go
• Prior exposure to Scrum/Agile methodology
