Skills Required:

1. Database Administration:

• Relational DBs: MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, MS SQL Server
• Backup & Recovery strategies
• Performance tuning, indexing, optimization
• Database security and user management

2. Infrastructure as a Service / IaC:

• Tools: Terraform, CloudFormation
• Containers & Kubernetes
• ELK Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana)
• Database migration (cloud/platform)
• Infrastructure scaling (vertical & horizontal)

3. SRE Principles:

• Strong experience with AWS & Azure, exposure to GCP
• API troubleshooting & integration
• Incident & outage management
• Monitoring tools: Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, CloudWatch
• Concepts: SLA, SLI, SLO, Error Budgets
• Performance optimization & disaster recovery

4. Scripting & Automation:

• Scripting: Python, Shell, Bash, PowerShell
• Tools: Ansible, Puppet, Chef
• Automate deployment, patching, scaling

5. Networking & Infrastructure:

• Basics: TCP/IP, DNS, Load Balancers, Firewalls
• Storage: IOPS, latency, throughput
• AWS Services: EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, CloudWatch, CloudTrail
• Azure Services: VMs, Virtual Networks, Resource Manager

6. Linux OS Expertise:

• OS: RHEL, Ubuntu, CentOS
• Tools: top, htop, vmstat, iostat, dstat
• File systems: ext4, XFS, partitioning, LVM
• RAID, performance troubleshooting, logs (journalctl, dmesg)

7. Troubleshooting & RCA:

• Analyze DB/system logs
• Root Cause Analysis for major incidents
• Query optimization, deadlocks, contention handling

8. Soft Skills:

• Excellent communication
• Strong problem-solving attitude
• Team collaboration with DevOps, Infra, and Engg teams
