Job Description:

Optum is hiring an Associate Software Engineer to build robust data infrastructure for real-time, batch, and cloud-native pipelines. You’ll be part of a tech-first healthcare organization impacting millions of lives globally while working on modern stacks like Spark, Airflow, Docker, Kubernetes, and Snowflake.

Key Responsibilities:

• Build scalable data pipelines to process terabytes of health data
• Use Apache Airflow for orchestration and Kubernetes/Hadoop for distributed processing
• Deploy microservices and jobs using Docker and Kubernetes
• Implement best-in-class processes for data cleaning, ETL, and standardization
• Migrate data solutions from on-prem to cloud (AWS/Azure/GCP)
• Ensure data quality with proactive monitoring, validation, and testing
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, DevOps automation, and standard data development patterns
• Work with cross-functional teams to support enterprise-scale healthcare data solutions

Required Skills:

• Strong in SQL and Spark development
• Proficiency in Python, Java, or Scala for backend/data processing
• Experience with columnar cloud data warehouses (Snowflake, Redshift, Databricks, Clickhouse)
• Data modeling familiarity (Kimball Star Schema, DataVault)
• Understanding of DataOps principles (CI/CD, monitoring, orchestration)
• Prior experience or projects on cloud-native platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
• Good interpersonal and stakeholder management skills
