Job Description:
Nielsen is a global leader in media measurement, powering better media futures with actionable insights across TV, streaming, and digital advertising platforms. As a Software Engineer on the Media Platform team, you will develop and scale a central platform that handles multi-petabyte Media Data Lakes, ingestion pipelines, orchestration, and data science tooling, leveraging open source and cloud-native technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and enhance platform components using open source and cloud-native tools.
• Customize and extend open source projects such as Presto, Airflow, Hive, and Jupyter for improved scalability, reliability, and security.
• Use Kubernetes to optimize resource efficiency, auto scaling, deployment standardization, and monitoring consistency.
• Apply DevOps best practices including automated testing, continuous integration, and zero-downtime deployment.

Candidate Profile:

• Passionate coder with strong curiosity to understand internal workings of technologies.
• Skilled at scaling, optimizing, and building innovative solutions using community tools.
• Collaborative team player excited to work in a fast-paced, high-impact environment.

Qualifications & Skills:

• 3+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong programming skills in Java, Python, or JavaScript including development, build, and deployment tools.
• Solid understanding of computer science fundamentals like algorithms and data structures.
• Experience or familiarity with big data systems (Spark, Presto, HDFS), orchestration tools (Airflow), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and databases/SQL.
• Contribution to open source, tech blogging, or speaking engagements is a plus.
• Knowledge of Golang is an advantage.
