About the Team

The SRE/DevOps team is responsible for ensuring availability, scalability, automation, and performance of Morningstar’s data systems. This role will support products and data solutions that are core to investment research and analytics platforms such as Morningstar.com, Direct, Advisor Workstation, and Retirement Advice tools.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and support core data platforms and infrastructure
• Proactively monitor events and system behavior to drive incident detection and resolution
• Review logs and manifests, and triage issues across data pipelines and audit frameworks
• Manage access controls, entitlement (EAMS), and ensure secure deployments
• Handle release management for data lake pipelines and dashboard updates
• Act as Incident Commander for P1/P2 issues and contribute to RCA
• Track data anomalies, schema changes, and support QC automation
• Build and manage dashboards for monitoring and operational visibility
• Support disaster recovery, server upgrades, and security patching
• Ensure compliance with data contracts, architecture diagrams, and logging standards

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or relevant field
• 0–2 years of experience in technical support, DevOps, or system engineering
• Strong understanding of Linux, data structures, and monitoring principles
• Knowledge of data logs, entitlement systems, and incident tracking frameworks
• Experience in working with large datasets, performing triage, and debugging data movement

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Python, Shell scripting
• Familiarity with AWS services: S3, SNS, SQS, DynamoDB, Glue, Lake Formation
• Experience working with Parquet, Avro, ORC formats
• Familiarity with monitoring tools: New Relic, Splunk, VictorOps, CloudWatch
• Exposure to Terraform, Jenkins, and automated deployment pipelines
• Strong documentation and communication skills
