Role Summary

Lenskart is hiring high-caliber DevOps / SRE / Platform Engineers to design, build, and operate cloud-native platforms that enable product teams to ship features faster, safer, and at scale.
This role emphasizes Kubernetes operations, AWS cloud engineering, Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD automation, observability, and reliability engineering.

You will take end-to-end ownership of infrastructure and platform reliability, influencing architecture, cost efficiency, and operational excellence across mission-critical systems.


Key Responsibilities

Platform & Cloud Engineering

  • Design, build, and operate cloud-native internal platforms to abstract infrastructure complexity.
  • Create reusable, opinionated infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
  • Own Kubernetes clusters, networking, service orchestration, and workload reliability in production.
  • Optimize cloud architecture for scalability, performance, and cost efficiency.

Reliability Engineering (SRE)

  • Define, implement, and maintain SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets for critical services.
  • Participate in on-call rotations, lead incident response, and produce blameless Root Cause Analyses (RCA).
  • Reduce operational toil through automation, self-healing systems, and tooling.

CI/CD & DevOps

  • Build and evolve secure, automated CI/CD pipelines using GitOps principles.
  • Enable safe, frequent production deployments with robust rollback strategies.
  • Partner with application teams to embed reliability and DevOps best practices early in the development lifecycle.

Observability & Operations

  • Implement advanced logging, metrics, tracing, and alerting solutions.
  • Ensure alerts are actionable and SLO-driven, avoiding alert fatigue.
  • Build dashboards, runbooks, and operational playbooks to reduce MTTR.

Architecture & Collaboration

  • Collaborate with software engineers, architects, and security teams on system design.
  • Review infrastructure and platform architecture for resilience, scalability, and cost control.
  • Champion DevOps, SRE, and cloud-native engineering standards across teams.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Core Engineering

  • Strong fundamentals in Linux, networking (DNS, TCP/IP), and distributed systems.
  • Proficiency in Python or Go for automation and platform tooling.
  • Strong Git workflows and software engineering discipline.

Cloud & Containers

  • Hands-on experience with AWS (primary); exposure to Azure or GCP is a plus.
  • Strong production experience operating Kubernetes at scale (mandatory).
  • Hands-on experience with Helm and containerized workloads.

Infrastructure & Tooling

  • Infrastructure as Code using Terraform (mandatory).
  • Configuration management with Ansible or Chef (preferred).
  • CI/CD & GitOps tools: ArgoCD, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI.

Observability & Reliability

  • Monitoring and alerting using Prometheus, Grafana, Alertmanager.
  • Tracing and APM tools: Datadog, New Relic, OpenTelemetry.
  • Incident management using PagerDuty or equivalent systems.

Data & Messaging (Working Knowledge)

  • Databases: PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB
  • Streaming and search: Kafka, Elasticsearch
  • Caching systems: Redis

Educational Background

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related fields.
  • Strong academic or practical exposure to operating systems, networks, distributed systems, cloud computing, and automation.
  • Equivalent hands-on experience with large-scale production systems is acceptable.
  • Certifications such as AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, AWS Solutions Architect, CKA/CKAD, Terraform are advantageous.

Nice to Have

  • Experience building internal developer platforms.
  • Exposure to DevSecOps and cloud security best practices.
  • Experience operating high-traffic, consumer-facing platforms.
  • Strong written documentation skills (design docs, RFCs, runbooks).
