Job Overview – Engineer, Cloud Ops

Five9 is hiring an Engineer – Cloud Operations to join its growing Cloud Infrastructure & SaaS Platform team in Bengaluru, India.

This role focuses on designing, implementing, and maintaining AWS cloud infrastructure and SaaS applications to ensure high availability, scalability, cost-efficiency, and security.
The position requires hands-on experience with AWS services, automation tools, and monitoring systems to deliver a world-class cloud environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure maximum uptime and availability for SaaS customer environments.
• Provision and manage customer tenants, ensuring smooth deployment across staging and production environments.
• Design, deploy, and maintain secure and scalable AWS cloud infrastructure using services like EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, and CloudFormation.
• Configure and manage monitoring solutions (CloudWatch, Grafana) for incident detection and response.
• Implement cost optimization strategies (Reserved Instances, Spot Instances, resource rightsizing).
• Develop and maintain backup and disaster recovery solutions using AWS Backup, RDS Snapshots, and S3.
• Enforce security and compliance standards through IAM policies, encryption, and role-based access control.
• Use Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or AWS CDK to automate provisioning.
• Automate manual operations and configurations using Python, Bash, or Ansible.
• Deploy and manage containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes (EKS) for scalability.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 2–5 years of experience in Cloud Operations, Infrastructure Management, or DevOps Engineering.
• Strong expertise in AWS services – EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, Lambda, IAM, and CloudFormation.
• Proven experience with Terraform for infrastructure automation.
• Scripting proficiency in Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Knowledge of monitoring and logging tools (CloudWatch, Datadog, Prometheus, ELK Stack).
• Solid understanding of networking, IAM, and security best practices.
• Experience troubleshooting SaaS performance and reliability issues.
• Familiarity with containerization platforms (Docker, Kubernetes, ECS, or EKS).
• Willingness to work in a 24/7 operational environment with rotational shifts.

Preferred Qualifications

• AWS Certifications (Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer, SysOps Administrator).
• Experience in hybrid cloud environments and on-premises-to-cloud migration.
• Exposure to other cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Knowledge of databases (RDS, DynamoDB) and caching solutions like Redis or ElastiCache.
