Job Overview
ZeroNorth is hiring a skilled Database Support Engineer to join their ShipPalm team in Chennai. This role is essential to ensuring the reliability, availability, and performance of production and test database systems that power ZeroNorth’s shipping decarbonization platform.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot database errors, slow queries, and job failures across production and test environments.
• Resolve real-time outages and provide first-line support for database-related incidents.
• Work closely with developers to debug stored procedures, optimize SQL queries, and improve overall DB performance.
• Monitor logs, alerts, and error reports to identify potential system issues before they impact operations.
• Respond to incident tickets via platforms like FreshDesk, JIRA, ServiceNow, etc., and escalate when needed.
• Perform root cause analysis and contribute to knowledge-sharing through incident review documentation.
• Support deployment activities and participate in database audits and compliance reporting.
• Collaborate with developers, QA, and cloud teams to ensure application and infrastructure stability.

Required Skills & Experience

• 5+ years in technical roles with hands-on experience resolving complex DB issues.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related technical discipline.
• Deep knowledge of database systems like Oracle, SQL Server, and MySQL.
• Proficiency with stored procedures, triggers, backups, security policies, and encryption.
• Experience with ticketing tools such as FreshDesk, JIRA, ServiceNow, or HPSM.
• Familiarity with retry mechanisms and pipeline timeout handling.
• Strong analytical thinking and communication skills for effective cross-team collaboration.
