Role Overview

As a Software Engineer I, you will design, develop, and maintain software for Zebra’s cutting-edge solutions. This role provides exposure to Google Cloud, CI/CD, automation, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), and Big Data infrastructure, making it ideal for early-career engineers who are passionate about DevOps, Cloud Security, and Automation.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines with DevOps teams.
• Automate Google Cloud infrastructure (GCS, VPC, Auto-scaling, APIs/CLIs) and deployment of applications.
• Build and manage SRE infrastructure for performance and risk mitigation.
• Automate deployments and rollbacks in production environments.
• Troubleshoot data ingestion pipelines and infrastructure issues.
• Implement and maintain security standards for cloud deployments.
• Administer and support multiple Big Data applications.
• Research and integrate new cloud automation tools and technologies.
• Collaborate with Development, QA, and Release Management teams to ensure seamless deployments.
• Conduct performance testing for reliability, scalability, and capacity.

Required Qualifications

• Strong foundation in Linux/Unix Administration and Cloud Infrastructure.
• Proficiency in Bash & Python scripting for automation.
• Hands-on experience with Google Cloud (GCS, VMs, VPC, Auto Scaling, APIs/CLIs).
• Familiarity with monitoring, log analysis, and custom alerting tools.
• Experience with CI/CD tools: Jenkins, Gerrit, Artifactory, CloudBees.
• Knowledge of databases: MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Cassandra, Solr, MariaDB.
• Understanding of networking & security protocols (TCP/IP, IPSec, TCPdump).
• Exposure to automation tools like Chef, Puppet, or similar.
• Knowledge of containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Familiarity with Git and Agile methodologies.
