About the Role

The Linux Administrator will be responsible for managing and maintaining Linux-based production environments across on-premise and cloud infrastructure. The role involves close collaboration with Development, DevOps, and Infrastructure teams to ensure system availability, performance, scalability, and security.

The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Linux OS internals, networking, web servers, databases, automation scripting, and cloud platforms such as AWS and OVH.

Key Responsibilities

Server & Network Management

• Configure, deploy, and maintain Linux servers (Ubuntu, CentOS, RHEL) in production environments
• Monitor system uptime, performance metrics, and capacity planning
• Manage network configurations, VPN setups, routers, load balancers, and connectivity troubleshooting
• Ensure high availability and reliability of infrastructure services

Security & System Maintenance

• Implement firewall rules using iptables and UFW
• Configure and manage fail2ban and Linux security hardening practices
• Perform regular system updates, patching, backups, and recovery testing
• Assist in disaster recovery planning and vulnerability assessments
• Ensure compliance with Linux security best practices

Web & Database Administration

• Install, configure, and manage Apache2 and Nginx web servers
• Manage SSL/TLS certificates and secure application deployments
• Administer MySQL and MongoDB databases, including backups, migrations, and performance tuning
• Troubleshoot web server and database-related issues in production

Automation & Version Control

• Develop and maintain Bash and Python scripts for automation and monitoring
• Improve system reliability through automation and scripting
• Use GitLab and GitHub for version control and collaboration
• Work closely with development teams to support deployments and releases

Cloud & Infrastructure Management

• Manage cloud infrastructure on AWS (IAM, S3, compute services)
• Handle infrastructure hosted on OVH Cloud
• Support cloud migration initiatives, resource optimization, and scalability planning
• Assist in maintaining cost-efficient and secure cloud environments

---

Device, User & Access Management

• Manage Linux user accounts, permissions, and access control policies
• Handle laptop provisioning, internal IT operations, and peripherals
• Troubleshoot system-level, network-level, and application-level issues
• Provide internal IT and infrastructure support when required

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 1–2 years of hands-on experience as a Linux System Administrator / Infrastructure Engineer
• Strong expertise in Linux OS internals and command-line tools
• Solid understanding of Networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, VPNs, Firewalls)
• Experience with Apache2 and Nginx web servers
• Hands-on experience in MySQL and MongoDB administration
• Proficiency in Bash scripting and working knowledge of Python scripting
• Experience with AWS (IAM, S3) and exposure to OVH Cloud
• Familiarity with Git-based workflows using GitLab and GitHub
• Comfortable working in high-availability production environments
