Position Overview – Software Engineer II

Walmart is hiring Software Engineer II for its India Development Center (IDC) located in Bangalore and Chennai.
This is an exclusive opportunity for Indian students studying in the United States to begin their careers with a global technology leader.

As a Software Engineer II, you will:

• Build scalable AI/ML-driven applications that solve real-world problems.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy scalable software systems using cutting-edge technologies.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams across product, design, and data engineering.
• Solve complex challenges in AI/ML, cloud infrastructure, data platforms, and consumer-facing applications.
• Participate in agile sprints, code reviews, and continuous integration processes.
• Contribute to software that enhances customer and associate experiences across Walmart’s ecosystem.
• Work on diverse technology domains such as supply chain, retail systems, finance, logistics, and mobile applications.
• Use tools and technologies like Java, Python, Hadoop, Cassandra, ERP, machine learning, and open-source frameworks.

Eligibility Criteria

• Final-year students (Class of 2026) pursuing Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related disciplines.
• Indian nationals currently enrolled in U.S. universities.
• Strong proficiency in Python, Java, C++, or JavaScript.
• Familiarity with tools/frameworks such as GitHub, Co-pilot, Qodo Merge, DX AI Chat.
• Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and system design.
• Passion for building high-impact, scalable software that reaches millions globally.

Minimum Qualifications

• Option 1: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Option 2: 3 years of experience in software engineering or a related field.

• Background in inclusive digital experience design and accessibility standards (WCAG 2.2 AA).
• Experience working with assistive technologies and accessibility guidelines for web and mobile platforms.
• Understanding of digital accessibility best practices aligned with Walmart’s inclusion standards.
