DevOps Engineer – Time Doctor

Role Overview

As a DevOps Engineer, you will architect, scale, and secure cloud-native infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and AWS. You’ll work with serverless technologies, container orchestration, Terraform automation, multi-environment deployments, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud-native monitoring systems.
This role requires strong cloud engineering experience and infrastructure automation expertise to support a fast-scaling SaaS platform.

Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure as Code & Cloud Architecture

• Design and maintain Terraform-based infrastructure for 40+ environments (production, staging, sandbox, customer-specific).
• Manage GCP services including GKE, Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, Cloud Build, VPC, Cloud Armor, Load Balancers.
• Develop reusable Terraform modules following DRY principles.
• Manage multi-environment infrastructure via GitOps and Terraform Cloud workflows.

Database & Data Infrastructure

• Administer MongoDB Atlas clusters (backups, replication, networking, tuning).
• Manage Redis/Cloud Memorystore for caching and session management.
• Maintain BigQuery datasets, scheduled queries, and pipelines.
• Implement lifecycle policies and optimize storage costs on Cloud Storage.

CI/CD & Automation

• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and Cloud Build.
• Manage container build pipelines and registries (GCR/Artifact Registry).
• Automate deployments using OIDC/Workload Identity Federation.
• Develop automation scripts using Python and Bash.
• Configure pre-commit hooks and code validation workflows.

Monitoring, Observability & Incident Response

• Maintain monitoring with Google Cloud Monitoring and Sentry.
• Create custom alerts for infra and application metrics.
• Implement distributed tracing using Cloud Trace and OpenTelemetry.
• Configure structured logging and log-based metrics in Cloud Logging.
• Respond to incidents and perform RCA with preventive actions.
• Manage uptime checks, SLO/SLI monitoring.

Security & Compliance

• Configure Cloud Armor WAF, rate limits, and DDoS protections.
• Manage Identity-Aware Proxy (IAP) for secure access.
• Automate SSL/TLS using Google-managed and Let’s Encrypt certificates.
• Maintain secrets with Google Secret Manager and IAM policies.
• Configure secure VPC networking, private service access, and Cloud NAT.
• Ensure encryption at rest, network isolation, and least-privilege IAM.

Collaboration & Documentation

• Work closely with engineering teams to optimize performance and scalability.
• Participate in architecture discussions and propose infra improvements.
• Create documentation, runbooks, procedures, and infrastructure diagrams.
• Mentor team members on DevOps and cloud best practices.
• Work with cross-functional teams on deployments and system enhancements.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 3–5 years of hands-on DevOps experience in production cloud environments.

GCP Expertise

• Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, GKE
• VPC networking, Cloud Armor, Load Balancers
• IAM, Secret Manager, and cloud security best practices

Terraform (Advanced)

• Multi-environment IaC
• Module development
• State management
• Terraform Cloud/Enterprise

MongoDB Atlas

• Cluster configuration, sharding, replica sets
• Backup and performance optimization
• Network peering and security

Container Technologies

• Docker, multi-stage builds
• Kubernetes or serverless container platforms
• Registry management

CI/CD

• GitHub Actions
• Cloud Build
• Automated deployments, GitOps practices

Scripting

• Strong skills in Python and Bash

Monitoring & Observability

• Experience with Sentry, Datadog, or cloud-native APM
• Log aggregation and analysis
