Experience Required

2–5 Years in Cloud Operations, SRE, or Kubernetes Administration

Role Summary

The Cloud Reliability Engineer will serve as a critical player in maintaining reliability, availability, and security of ThoughtSpot’s SaaS platform. This role balances day-to-day operational responsibilities—including incident management, change management, monitoring, and triage—with automation and process improvement initiatives. You will directly impact customer trust, uptime, and service quality, while contributing to the automation of repetitive tasks and optimization of cloud operations.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Excellence & Incident Management

  • Monitoring & Triage: Proactively monitor cloud infrastructure health, own production alerts, and perform swift triage and resolution.
  • Incident Response: Lead management of critical incidents from identification to resolution. Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and post-incident reviews to minimize MTTR.
  • Change & Release Management: Execute and track production upgrades, multi-tenant deployments, and change requests with zero-downtime best practices.
  • Escalation Support: Provide infrastructure support for escalated issues and cross-team requirements.
  • 24/7 Availability: Participate in shift-based schedules and on-call rotations to support global operations.

Automation & Continuous Improvement

  • Task Automation: Script and automate operational tasks using Python and Jenkins, reducing manual intervention.
  • Tooling Optimization: Maintain and optimize monitoring, alerting, and CI/CD tooling.
  • Process Evolution: Identify opportunities to shift left operations, converting manual runbooks into automated, self-healing mechanisms.

Required Qualifications

  • 2–5 years of professional experience in Cloud Operations, SRE, or Kubernetes administration.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure in production environments.
  • Operational knowledge of Kubernetes (EKS, GKE, AKS) including cluster management and troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency in Python and Jenkins for scripting and automation.
  • Strong understanding of ITIL processes: Incident, Change, and Problem Management.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks under pressure while adhering to SLAs and operational guidelines.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills to work with Engineering, Product, and Support teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent work experience.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools: Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation.
  • Familiarity with cloud-native observability and monitoring tools: CloudWatch, Stackdriver, Prometheus, Grafana.
  • Strong Linux system administration and networking troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience supporting enterprise-grade SaaS platforms with strict compliance and security requirements.

Working Conditions

  • Shift-Based Role: Requires participation in defined shifts for global coverage.
  • On-Call Rotation: Regular on-call duties to support production systems.
  • Environment: Fast-paced, collaborative, and process-driven, with a strong emphasis on production stability, reliability, and automation.
