Job Overview

Real Time Data Services is hiring a Linux Engineer to manage Linux systems and cloud infrastructure with a strong focus on performance, security, automation, and troubleshooting. The role involves working with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, scalable, and secure cloud and Linux environments.

Job Responsibilities

Linux System Administration

• Manage and maintain Linux servers (Red Hat, Ubuntu, CentOS) ensuring high performance, availability, and security.
• Perform routine tasks including system updates, patches, and backups.
• Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement improvements.

Cloud Infrastructure Management

• Deploy, manage, and troubleshoot cloud-based services and applications.
• Use cloud tools for automated deployment, scaling, and resource management.
• Implement and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.

Security & Compliance

• Implement security best practices: firewalls, IDS, access control, and regular audits.
• Manage user permissions, authentication, and identity management.
• Ensure cloud and Linux systems meet compliance and security requirements.

Automation & CI/CD

• Develop automation scripts using Bash, Python, or Perl.
• Automate routine tasks to improve efficiency and reduce manual efforts.
• Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines for continuous deployment and testing.

Monitoring & Optimization

• Set up and manage monitoring tools to track system health and availability.
• Analyze performance metrics and optimize resource utilization.
• Manage cost optimization strategies for cloud environments.

Documentation & Collaboration

• Create and maintain documentation for systems, workflows, and procedures.
• Share knowledge with team members and assist in training.
• Collaborate with DevOps, Network, InfoSec, Billing, Infra, and Sales teams.

Customer Support

• Provide advanced technical support for cloud services, networking, and Linux systems.
• Diagnose and resolve complex issues; escalate when necessary.
• Coordinate with third-party vendors and participate in 24/7 on-call rotations.
• Communicate effectively with customers, providing updates and status reports.

Required Skills

• Strong understanding of cloud computing and virtualization.
• Proficiency in Bash, Python, or similar scripting languages.
• Strong knowledge of IP networking, VPNs, DNS, load balancing, firewalls.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools and DevOps principles.
• Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a dynamic team environment.
• Certifications preferred: RHCSA, RHCE.
• Knowledge of OpenStack is a plus.
