Porch Group is seeking a motivated Software Engineer I to join its Home Factors Product Team. This position is ideal for early-career engineers who want to develop scalable backend systems, work with modern cloud infrastructure, and grow within a remote-first global engineering culture.

Job Summary

As a Software Engineer I, you’ll collaborate with engineers, product managers, and data scientists to design and deliver solutions that extract, process, and analyze property attribute data. You’ll gain hands-on experience in backend services, data processing, and cloud computing while working with modern tools and scalable architectures.

This is a great opportunity for recent graduates or engineers with 1–2 years of experience to enhance their skills in data-driven development, DevOps practices, and cloud systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineering and data teams to develop scalable backend systems for property data extraction and processing.
• Implement features using regular expressions, large language models (LLMs), and data extraction techniques.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following Porch engineering best practices.
• Participate in code reviews and technical discussions, actively seeking feedback.
• Work with microservices architecture and cloud infrastructure (AWS or GCP).
• Learn and follow established CI/CD pipelines and deployment frameworks.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in system design and code quality.
• Communicate effectively within a distributed, remote-first team.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Experience: 0–2 years of software development experience.
• Technical Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of SQL (preferably PostgreSQL).
  • Experience in a JVM language (Scala preferred).
  • Understanding of data science, data labeling, or information extraction concepts.
  • Exposure to Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka, AWS/GCP, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Familiarity with microservices architecture and cloud environments.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Additional Requirements

• Must currently reside within 150 km of Greater Delhi NCR, Greater Bangalore, or Greater Pune.
• Ability to overlap with US business hours (EST/PST).
• Reliable workspace with at least 30 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload internet connection.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary Range: ₹6,56,000 – ₹9,18,000 per year (based on skills, experience, and location).
