NITI Aayog Government Internship Program

About the Internship

NITI Aayog offers an internship program for students pursuing undergraduate, graduate, or postgraduate degrees, as well as research scholars from recognized institutions in India or abroad. This program provides hands-on exposure to government operations and policy-making processes.

Key Details

• Internship Type: Unpaid
• Duration: Minimum 6 weeks, up to 6 months
• Eligibility:
  • Undergraduate students: Completed/appeared for second-year (4th semester) exams with at least 85% in Class 12.
  • Graduate students: Completed/appeared for first-year (2nd semester) of post-graduation or pursuing PhD with at least 70% in graduation.
  • Recent Graduates/Postgraduates: Must have scored at least 70% in all semesters and can apply within six months of graduation.

Application Process

• Apply online via the NITI Aayog website between the 1st and 10th of every month.
• Applications must be submitted at least 2 months in advance but no more than 6 months before the desired internship period.
• Candidates can apply only once per financial year.

Selection Process

• Applications are reviewed by the respective departments.
• Each department can select up to 3 interns (exceptions require CEO approval).
• Selected candidates must submit:
  • Original mark sheets
  • No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their institution before joining.
• The final list of selected candidates will be published on the NITI Aayog website.

Attendance & Conduct

• Minimum Attendance: 75% (mandatory for certification).
• Interns must be punctual and maintain professional conduct.
• Any violation of guidelines may lead to disqualification.
