About the Role

The Cloud Infrastructure Internship at Neurocrine Biosciences offers a hands-on, real-world experience in cloud engineering, DevOps, and infrastructure automation, specifically in a biotechnology context.

Key Responsibilities

As a Cloud Infrastructure Intern, your contributions may include:

• Cloud Configuration & Security

  • Support cloud security and configuration reviews.
  • Ensure environments follow best practices for identity management, tagging, and resource governance.

• Infrastructure as Code (IaC)

  • Refine or develop IaC templates for environment consistency.
  • Support Terraform, ARM, or Azure/AWS CLI scripts.

• Containerization & Serverless Workflows

  • Identify opportunities to implement containerized or serverless pipelines.
  • Assist in deploying and maintaining Docker/Kubernetes environments.

• Cloud Health & Cost Optimization

  • Monitor cloud resource utilization and performance.
  • Develop dashboards for cost analysis and optimization opportunities.

• CI/CD Pipeline Support

  • Maintain and troubleshoot continuous integration/continuous deployment pipelines.
  • Review failed pipeline runs and recommend incremental improvements.

• ML/HPC Environment Support

  • Assist in setting up and validating compute environments for machine learning and high-performance computing projects.

• Collaboration & Mentorship

  • Work with cross-functional teams and fellow interns.
  • Participate in program workshops, social gatherings, and career development events.

• Special Project

  • Complete an assigned project and present recommendations to senior management.

Requirements

Educational Qualifications:

• Pursuing or completed an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical fields.

Skills & Experience:

• Basic programming knowledge in any object-oriented language (Python, Java, C++).
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and cloud practitioner certification is a plus.
• Experience with Linux/UNIX systems.
