Role Overview:
As an Infrastructure Engineer at NatWest Group, you will engineer and operate enterprise-grade infrastructure platforms supporting public cloud, private cloud, and on-premise data centre environments. You will focus on automation, infrastructure as code, CI/CD enablement, observability, resilience, and security guardrails, enabling secure and scalable banking platforms.

This role offers strong exposure to banking-grade DevOps, mainframe-integrated infrastructure, and modern cloud-native engineering practices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Engineer infrastructure solutions for public cloud, private cloud, and on-premise environments, ensuring compliance with security, resilience, sustainability, and operational standards.
• Use automation and CI/CD pipelines to enable testing, deployment, and production release of infrastructure products.
• Collaborate with internal users and customers to integrate infrastructure products into their CI/CD workflows.
• Contribute to the selection, creation, and lifecycle management of infrastructure technologies aligned with enterprise architecture strategy.
• Partner with stakeholders to define technology roadmaps, lifecycle planning, and end-of-support transitions.
• Provide operational support for engineered infrastructure products and resolve production issues.
• Design self-service infrastructure platforms using modern DevOps and cloud engineering practices.
• Deliver Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions and reusable engineering patterns.
• Drive innovation by proposing and delivering new infrastructure capabilities and features.
• Continuously develop technical skills through learning, certifications, and hands-on engineering.

Required Skills & Experience:

Core Technical Skills:

• Software development experience with CA7 scheduling, JCL, and mainframe automation.
• Hands-on experience with CA7 monitoring commands, scheduling actions, and production support.
• Strong scripting and automation skills using REXX and Python.
• Experience working with Git-based version control systems.
• Ability to build and manage engineering tools layered over JCL and REXX frameworks.

DevOps & Platform Engineering:

• Experience developing CI/CD pipelines using modern DevOps tooling.
• Strong system programming knowledge across CA7 / CA11 products.
• Understanding of DevOps principles, automation-first mindset, and collaboration models.

Enterprise Infrastructure:

• Advanced knowledge of TSO, JCL, scheduling, and monitoring.
• Experience with IBM DB2 utilities, REXX, and operational automation tools.
• Hands-on exposure to on-premise data centre infrastructure.
• Ability to support highly regulated, security-sensitive enterprise systems.
