Morgan Stanley is seeking an Associate Linux Administrator for the Enterprise Computing Unix Operations Level 3 team. This team maintains a centrally managed global plant running on Solaris and Linux systems and serves as the highest level of escalation for support.


About the Role

As a Linux Administrator, you will:

  • Maintain and support large-scale production environments for Unix/Linux systems.
  • Develop procedures and tools to streamline operations and reduce repetitive tasks.
  • Manage core infrastructure components such as DHCP, DNS, NTP, and global software distribution systems.
  • Manage physical system firmware and onboard new hardware.
  • Collaborate with multiple business units during outage scenarios and support scaling operations.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and occasional weekend support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support and manage Linux system administration (preferably Red Hat Linux).
  • Work with virtualization and microservices infrastructure.
  • Implement and manage clustering technologies, preferably Veritas Cluster Server.
  • Write and maintain scripts in Unix shell, Perl, or Python.
  • Manage host-level networking and ensure security compliance.
  • Debug and resolve complex production issues.
  • Follow Change Management and Problem Management practices.
  • Collaborate effectively with global teams and maintain high organizational standards.

Preferred Skills

  • Understanding of SANs and NAS storage devices.
  • Experience with Veritas Volume Manager and VMware virtualization.
  • Familiarity with problem and change management processes.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks under high-pressure situations.
