As a Site Reliability Engineer (NOC), you will be the first line of defense ensuring MakeMyTrip’s production systems and services remain stable, secure, and highly available. This position involves real-time monitoring, incident response, troubleshooting, and infrastructure optimization across multiple technology layers.


About the Function

The Site Reliability Team at MakeMyTrip is responsible for 24x7 monitoring of production servers, applications, and services. As part of this critical team, you will manage cloud-based Linux environments, collaborate with multiple departments like Engineering, Sales, and Product, and ensure zero downtime across systems.

The role demands a balance of technical knowledge, problem-solving skills, and strong communication. You’ll work with advanced monitoring tools and automation frameworks to deliver stability and performance to millions of users worldwide.


Prime Responsibilities

  • Continuously monitor systems using tools like Zabbix, Grafana, and the ELK Stack.
  • Identify unexpected deviations in application layers and respond to alerts as per defined SOPs.
  • Escalate and resolve incidents promptly with proper communication and follow-up.
  • Develop Shell/Python scripts for automation and reporting tasks.
  • Maintain and schedule CRON jobs for periodic monitoring and system health reports.
  • Document recurring issues and create knowledge-sharing guides to improve team efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot live site production issues by analyzing logs, metrics, and system components.
  • Support 24x7 cloud infrastructure operations through rotational shifts and weekend coverage.
  • Ensure incident reporting and maintain operational discipline in a fast-paced environment.

Desired Skills

  • 1–3 years of experience in AWS Cloud-based Linux production environments.
  • Strong understanding of system monitoring, incident management, and root-cause analysis.
  • Basic Linux command-line proficiency and hands-on scripting (Shell/Python).
  • Familiarity with web and network fundamentals – DNS, HTTP protocols, ports, and cookies.
  • Practical exposure to L2 debugging, log analysis, and troubleshooting production systems.
  • Knowledge of SQL queries for basic data validation and monitoring.
  • Hands-on experience with ELK Stack, Zabbix, or Grafana preferred.
  • Awareness of AWS cloud environment and services like EC2, S3, and CloudWatch.
  • Ability to work in rotational shifts including nights and weekends.

Education & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Certifications in AWS, Linux Administration, or Cloud Operations are a plus.
  • Prior experience in 24x7 NOC environments preferred.
