Job Description

Infinera is hiring SW QA Engineers to join our Optical Network Software Testing Team. You will be responsible for testing and validating optical transport planning tools, working on industry-leading technologies like DWDM, OTN, and ROADM.

This role is ideal for freshers and early-career engineers looking to work in telecom software QA, optical network simulation, and quality assurance automation.

Responsibilities

• Validate optical network planning tools (DWDM, OTN, ROADM, GMPLS)
• Design and execute test plans, test scripts, and test cases
• Perform functional, regression, and system testing
• Simulate real-world telecom network topologies
• Identify and report defects using tools like JIRA, Bugzilla
• Collaborate with developers and network engineers for bug resolution
• Maintain documentation for test cases and QA processes
• Provide feedback on usability and product improvements

Required Skills

• Basic understanding of telecom protocols and optical network concepts: DWDM, SDH, SONET, OTN, ROADM
• Exposure to telecom network simulation and planning tools
• Experience with bug tracking and test management tools: JIRA, TestRail
• Familiarity with Layer 0/1/2 protocols and traffic engineering
• Hands-on knowledge in scripting (Python, Selenium, REST API) is a plus
• Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Skills

• Exposure to network inventory, service provisioning, or network performance metrics
• Knowledge of ITU-T, MEF, IEEE telecom standards
• Familiarity with DevOps or Agile development
• Understanding of network KPIs, SLA metrics
