Job Description
As a Platform Reliability Engineer II, you will play a key role in ensuring system reliability, efficiency, and scalability. You will work closely with software engineers and platform teams to build cloud-native solutions and maintain legacy systems while implementing SRE best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain scalable systems to enhance efficiency, stability, observability, and performance.
- Influence system architecture as part of Wayfair’s Cloud Enablement journey while maintaining legacy tools.
- Collaborate with development teams to design fault-tolerant and highly available systems.
- Define and monitor SLOs, SLAs, and error budgets to enhance service reliability.
- Provide production support and solve complex engineering challenges across the stack.
- Automate repetitive tasks to improve efficiency and reduce manual errors.
- Participate in on-call rotations and respond to critical system incidents.
- Mentor junior engineers through code reviews, tech talks, and hands-on guidance.
Required Skills & Experience
- 3+ years in DevOps, SRE, or software engineering roles.
- Expertise in cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Strong server-side programming experience (Python, Go, Java, Bash).
- Deep understanding of distributed systems, microservices architecture, and SRE principles.
- Monitoring & alerting expertise (tracing, SLI/SLO/SLA management).
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and version control systems (Git).
- Knowledge of configuration management tools (Puppet, Ansible, Chef, Terraform).
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Nice to Have
- Experience decoupling monolithic services into microservices.
- Passion for leading large, cross-functional technical initiatives.
- Experience mentoring engineers and driving best coding practices.
