Role Summary

The Cloud Engineer role focuses on designing, operating, securing, and optimizing Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 environments in a globally distributed enterprise setup. The engineer will be responsible for cloud governance, identity management, containerized workloads, automation, cost optimization, and security compliance, while collaborating with global IT teams across regions.

This role aligns strongly with high-paying cloud engineering positions in the U.S. market, especially for professionals experienced in Azure, Kubernetes, Infrastructure as Code, and enterprise cloud operations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Operate, manage, and optimize cloud-native infrastructure primarily on Microsoft Azure, with awareness of multi-cloud architectures.
  • Administer Azure Active Directory (Azure AD), Conditional Access policies, and hybrid identity integrations using AD Connect.
  • Implement and maintain Azure governance frameworks, compliance controls, and security policies aligned with enterprise standards.
  • Monitor and optimize Azure performance, cloud cost management (FinOps), and security posture.
  • Configure and manage Azure monitoring, logging, and alerting systems for proactive cloud operations.
  • Automate cloud infrastructure provisioning using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep) and scripting frameworks.
  • Manage containerized workloads using Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and Azure Container Apps to ensure scalability and high availability.
  • Design and implement backup, business continuity, and disaster recovery strategies for cloud workloads.
  • Conduct security monitoring, vulnerability assessments, and compliance audits for cloud environments.
  • Respond to incidents and alerts while ensuring SLA adherence and operational stability.
  • Collaborate with global IT and cloud engineering teams for cross-region deployments and integrations.
  • Support cloud migrations and integrations involving on-premises systems, when required.

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or currently pursuing).
  • Relevant certifications or willingness to obtain during probation.

Certifications (Preferred)

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator / Azure Engineer
  • Kubernetes Certifications (CKA, CKAD, CKNA)
  • Azure Security or Azure DevOps certifications

Experience Requirements

  • Proven hands-on experience managing Microsoft Azure environments with strong exposure to PaaS and container platforms.
  • Practical experience with Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and container orchestration.
  • Strong understanding of Linux system administration in cloud-based environments.
  • Familiarity with multi-cloud concepts involving AWS and GCP is advantageous.
  • Experience using Infrastructure as Code and automation tools such as Terraform, Bicep, and Ansible.

Technical Skills

  • Strong PowerShell and Bash scripting skills.
  • Experience deploying, scaling, and monitoring containerized applications.
  • Deep knowledge of Azure networking, security architecture, and governance models.
  • Familiarity with cloud monitoring, alerting, and operational tooling.
  • Ability to optimize cloud cost, performance, and reliability.
