About the Role

As a Cloud Engineer in Groupon’s Cloud Routing Team, you'll be part of a high-impact platform team building tools used across 300+ microservices serving millions of users. You'll contribute to routing, CDN performance, service mesh, caching, security, and cloud infrastructure optimizations.

Key Responsibilities

Cloud Infrastructure

• Design and manage cloud infrastructure on AWS, Azure, or GCP
• Optimize for cost, speed, scalability, and reliability

Networking & Routing

• Manage VPCs, VPNs, routing tables, gateways, Direct Connect
• Traffic routing for high availability and low latency

CDNs & Caching

• Deploy and configure CDN services like CloudFront
• Implement caching using Redis, Memcached, etc.

Service Mesh (Envoy Proxy)

• Deploy service mesh with Istio or Linkerd
• Configure Envoy for traffic management, security, observability

Cloud Security

• IAM, security groups, firewalls, compliance
• Conduct audits and vulnerability remediation

Monitoring & DR

• Monitoring tools setup and incident resolution
• Define and execute disaster recovery strategies

Collaboration

• Work with dev, ops, and security teams
• Maintain documentation and train teammates

Qualifications

• 5+ years in cloud engineering
• Strong knowledge of AWS, GCP or Azure
• Deep understanding of networking, DNS, routing
• Hands-on with Envoy, CDNs, service mesh
• Proficiency in Python, Bash, or PowerShell
• Infra-as-code (Terraform/CloudFormation)
• Excellent debugging and collaboration skills

Preferred:

• Certifications: AWS / Azure / GCP
• Kubernetes experience
• CI/CD and DevOps knowledge
