About the Role

Join Ford as a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) and be a key part of the Enterprise Technology team. As an SRE, you’ll help build and scale Ford's global monitoring and observability platform. This hybrid role blends systems engineering and software development to enhance the reliability, scalability, and maintainability of mission-critical cloud services.

Responsibilities

• Write, configure, and deploy code to improve system reliability
• Review code, offer constructive feedback, and guide quality standards
• Troubleshoot complex systems and lead performance optimization
• Participate in on-call rotation and handle production incidents
• Write technical documentation including runbooks and design analysis
• Develop and manage backend systems using Golang, Postgres, and OpenTelemetry
• Implement tooling using Terraform and other IaC solutions
• Operate within GCP, optimizing resources and performance
• Collaborate with development teams to improve systems reliability
• Create automated solutions for monitoring, recovery, and tuning
• Ensure infrastructure security and compliance with best practices
• Perform capacity planning and implement performance metrics
• Participate in postmortem reviews and maintain disaster recovery plans
• Contribute to internal knowledge sharing and documentation

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in SRE, DevOps, or Software Engineering
• Strong Golang development experience and knowledge of Terraform
• Proficient with OpenTelemetry or similar observability tools
• Experience with Kubernetes and Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
• Proficient in scripting and automation
• Knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases
• Strong debugging, optimization, and troubleshooting skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication
