Job Summary

As a System Administrator, you will play a key role in managing Cubic’s enterprise IT systems, ensuring they are optimized, secured, and up to date. The role includes deploying and maintaining platforms like Windows, UNIX, Linux, and AIX, along with supporting database and network infrastructure.

This position requires working in rotational shifts, including night and weekend shifts, with 3 days off per week. Ideal for candidates with a strong systems background and excellent troubleshooting capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform day-to-day system administration across multiple platforms (Windows, Linux, UNIX, AIX)
• Conduct system health checks, monitor software and operating systems for performance and availability
• Assist Network Administrators with LAN, WAN, and internet configurations
• Install and configure database software, including Oracle
• Manage system backups, restoration, and failover mechanisms using tools like Veritas or NetBackup
• Maintain secure backend systems, networked devices, and manage software license compliance
• Support performance tuning and capacity planning
• Configure and support routers, firewalls, load balancers, and monitoring tools
• Apply patches and updates to operating systems and database layers
• Participate in documentation and rehearsals for upgrade or deployment procedures
• Ensure adherence to security and compliance protocols across all systems

Technical Skills & Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical field
• Minimum 2 years of relevant system administration experience
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, internet protocols, and enterprise LAN/WAN architecture
• Proficient in managing Windows Server, Linux (Red Hat, Ubuntu), and UNIX platforms (AIX, HP-UX, Solaris)
• Experience with Oracle database installation, patching, and performance optimization
• Familiarity with scripting and automation using C, C++, Java, Perl, or Ruby
• Understanding of network security principles including firewall setup, user access controls, and server hardening
• Exposure to monitoring and alerting tools such as Big Brother, Nagios, or similar

• Shift Type: Rotational (24/7)
• Weekend Work: Required (12-hour shifts on Saturdays and Sundays)
• Total Working Days: 4 per week
