Role Overview:

As a Software Engineer on the Cloud Platform Team, you’ll play a key role in scaling CockroachDB Cloud services across AWS, Azure, and GCP. You’ll focus on building and maintaining stable, scalable infrastructure, ensuring the reliability and quality of our cloud offerings. You'll collaborate across teams to enhance features such as multi-region deployments, customer-managed encryption keys, and elastic scaling.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and maintain internal and customer-facing systems with CockroachDB Cloud.
• Increase product reliability and operational efficiency.
• Develop and deploy tools for infrastructure and system management.
• Manage production systems and ensure optimal operation.
• Participate in on-call rotation for production systems.

Expectations for Your First 30 Days:

• Onboard and learn about the current internal and customer-facing systems.
• Work closely with Cloud Platform and engineering teams to understand system deployment and management.
• Start contributing to Cloud operations.

Expectations After 3 Months:

• Fully integrated into the team, developing and owning tools for infrastructure, automation, and reliability.
• Identify opportunities to automate processes, streamline delivery, and enhance core functionality.
• Play a critical role in optimizing CockroachDB Cloud’s stability and scalability.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Expertise in at least one cloud provider (AWS, Azure, GCP) and Cloud APIs.
• Strong experience in analyzing, monitoring, and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems.
• Proficiency in software development (Go, C, C++, Python, Java).
• Experience with Kubernetes clusters in production.
• Familiarity with infrastructure tooling (Terraform, Pulumi).
• Strong debugging and optimization skills.
