Job Overview

CDM Smith is hiring an Entry Data Engineer to join its Digital Engineering Solutions team. You will contribute to advanced data initiatives that support architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) outcomes. This role involves developing ETL/ELT pipelines, collaborating with data scientists, and using modern cloud technologies such as Azure Data Factory and Databricks.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in building scalable ETL/ELT pipelines for integrating data from multiple sources.
• Automate data workflows to improve efficiency and reduce errors.
• Validate data for completeness, consistency, and accuracy.
• Monitor and troubleshoot data pipeline performance.
• Document data engineering workflows and standards.
• Collaborate with Data Scientists and Analytics Engineers to deliver reliable data solutions.
• Stay up to date with industry trends, tools, and data engineering best practices.
• Help develop internal documentation and standards for data technologies.
• Perform other assigned duties as needed.

Required Skills

• Understanding of SDLC and Agile Development methodologies.
• Familiarity with Azure Data Factory, Databricks, and Synapse Analytics.
• Knowledge of data modeling and scalable data pipeline design.
• Basic understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps in data engineering.
• Awareness of monitoring tools and pipeline observability techniques.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to solving complex data problems.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
