Role Overview

As a Software Engineer – DevOps / SRE, you will treat infrastructure as software, building resilient, observable, and scalable systems. You will work on Kubernetes, cloud networking, data streaming, and IaC automation, directly impacting Atlas’s global services.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect Infrastructure: Design and implement infrastructure using Python-based Pulumi or Terraform.
• Orchestrate at Scale: Operate and optimize Kubernetes clusters, including Helm chart management and deployment strategies.
• Service Connectivity: Implement Istio service mesh for secure, resilient, and observable inter-service communication.
• Data & Messaging: Maintain high-throughput streaming systems like Kafka and NATS Jetstream.
• Observability: Manage monitoring, logging, and tracing stack (Loki, Tempo, Mimir) for system insights.
• Cloud Portability: Build cloud-agnostic systems to reduce vendor lock-in.
• Network Engineering: Manage Site-to-Site VPNs, Direct Connect, and VPC networking for hybrid/multi-cloud environments.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure resilient, secure, and automated infrastructure.

Required Qualifications

• 2–6 years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or Platform Engineering.
• Kubernetes Expertise: Hands-on experience operating, scaling, and troubleshooting Kubernetes in production.
• Strong Python programming skills for automation and IaC.
• Proficiency in Pulumi (preferred) or Terraform for Infrastructure-as-Code.
• Cloud experience with AWS, GCP, or other major providers; hybrid/multi-cloud exposure is a plus.
• Experience implementing observability and monitoring stacks in cloud-native environments.

• Multi-cloud and hybrid cloud experience.
• Familiarity with stateful databases (SQL, NoSQL, or distributed stores).
