Position Summary

We are looking for an Associate DevOps Platform Kubernetes Engineer to join our Cloud Infrastructure Engineering division in Chennai. The team ensures the availability, scalability, and security of athenahealth’s critical medical office services, managing thousands of servers and petabytes of storage while handling massive web request volumes.

Responsibilities

Kubernetes Deployment & Automation

• Design, deploy, and manage highly available Kubernetes clusters on AWS EKS using Terraform or Crossplane.
• Implement Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) best practices for AWS infrastructure management.

Kubernetes Operations & GitOps

• Configure and maintain Kubernetes deployments, services, ingresses, and other resources using YAML manifests or GitOps workflows.
• Implement GitOps practices with FluxCD for automated deployments.

Reliability, Security & Scalability

• Ensure high availability, security, and performance of AWS production systems.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues across multiple platforms and application domains.

Operational Support & Monitoring

• Provide operational support and expertise for cloud deployments with a focus on Kubernetes.
• Monitor system performance, downtime incidents, and diagnose root causes.

Cost Optimization

• Design and implement cost-effective Kubernetes solutions within budget.

Qualifications

• 3 to 5 years of experience in building, scaling, and supporting highly available systems.
• 2+ years of hands-on experience managing Kubernetes clusters in production.
• Expertise in Amazon EKS (Elastic Kubernetes Service) and AWS cloud infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of Kubernetes architecture, best practices, and security.
• Experience with Terraform, Crossplane, and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools.
• Familiarity with GitOps (FluxCD is a plus).
• Proficiency in Python, Go, Ruby, or Shell scripting.
• Experience in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), DevOps, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and Alertmanager.
